Anserine Apparitions

The exhibition offers the viewer the chance to devise and enjoy their own modern day pareidolia and non-religious apparitions.

The psychological phenomenon of pareidolia and related apophenia is the experience of seeing patterns and connections in seemingly meaningless data or forms. Apparitions are a form of this, people often seeing religious forms in their tea-leaves or statues crying. The show will feature drawings, paintings and mini-idols, in the hope that visitors may have their own invented experiences. The audience are also invited to contribute an object to a shrine of anserine apparitions:

Apparitions lurking in everyday objects, as donated by visitors of the gallery, were taken by Jon, who accessed their paranormal worth and customised them accordingly. The household objects had to be no smaller than a matchbox but no bigger than a cat. Once the exhibition as been completed those who donated an object will receive a random object from the collection in return.

The exhibition runs from August 30 until September 26 2008 at Helium Cowboy Artspace, Sternstraße 4, Hamburg, Germany. More information can be found here.

Info on prices and artwork availability can be found here.
