My First Trip To Japan 01
Hello - I’m going to Japan. I’ve never been there before. I hope to write about my experiences here and share some of my photos and doodles along the way. What will I discover, who will I meet, what will I end up eating ? Who knows, but let’s find out…
I arrived into Yokohama a little early to check into the hotel so wondered around. The first thing I came across was a pet shop selling tiny dogs. They were all in glass cases, which probably wasn’t a good idea. The sun was shining and it was quite warm; for the first time in months I didn’t need more than a t-shirt and jumper. The pet shop smelt, I think some of the dogs at the front of the store were smoldering.
This lunch was served in a mega hot bowl. The rice and vegetables sort of cooked themselves in it. If you didn’t stir the food regularly it would all stick to the sides. I think it’s a Korean style meal.
This is the tallest building in Yokahama, it doesn’t seem that tall to me, although I was stood far away and things further way seem smaller than they really are.
I’m enjoying eating salad for breakfast. You can’t see it in this photo but underneath the salad are some cold noodles covered in something like mayonnaise, expect it’s not quite the same. In addition to what is in the photo I had an extra portion of soup and rice, two little custard things, sesame seed sprinkles, green tea and on the way out I pinch a piece of donut bread to eat in the lift.

Hi Jon! I’m jealous and happy that you are visiting Japan! I’m from Nara and definitely recommend to visit Kansai area if you could fit in your schedule! Kyoto and Osaka are my favorite cities. Hope you’re having awesome times.
Yeah it’s a Korean dish called bibimbap. I got your book and it’s great. I hope 2009 brings you more success!
