Tiger Translate Beijing
On Saturday 14th July artists Jeremyville, Luke Bennett, Ben Frost, Li Qiu Qiu, Song Yang, Nie Jun and myself collaborated at 798 Space in Beijing as part of Tiger Translate.
Beijing is amazing; a great time was had by all and I was very lucky to meet some very cool people and eat some very big meals.
This was a local breakfast, some kind of gluten and beancurd soup/porridge. It was difficult to eat it all. Thankfully the hotel was stocked full of muffins, watermelon and pancake buns.
The artists all collaborated on each others canvases. I mainly worked with the very talented (and successful) Song Yang.
Luckily there were some people in the studio willing to help out paint certain areas of the canvas. They did a great job and were much more careful at painting than me.
Jeremyville executed a little monster to the bottom of the piece.
A full version of the finished canvas can be seen here. It will stay on display, along with all the other artists works, until sometime in August at 798.
There were also sofas in the studio to customise, these would later be used on the stage at the event on Saturday.
The event was massive and very busy. Once someone asked us to sign their copy of the Tiger Translate book (produced by IdN), everyone began to. Jeremy and I had lo-fi fun doodling on an over-head projector.
Goodie bags were given away and they were very nice to doodle on.
I hope to return to Beijing again soon. Big thanks to everyone I met there and for Tiger for inviting me over for the event.
